We were just going to Glendo, Wyoming with friends to enjoy some boating.

Imagine waking up in the morning to the sight of well over a hundred boats cueing up at the marina.

A quick search of the internet revealed we had arrived at the weekend of the Glendo Wyoming Walleye Stampede.

Saturday was their inaugural Governors Cup with 141 boats hitting the water.

It was early morning.

The fish were jumping and the fishermen wanted at them.

After everyone had checked in, the lead boat went out to the center of the lake followed by a long, slow conga line.

The lead boat stopped, and as each competitor boat passed, they suddenly sped up and went out searching for what they thought would be the best fishing spot.

The shorelines were dotted with boats all morning through the afternoon.

That includes lots of great pictures of fishermen holding up catches of sizes that you might not have thought existed in the Glendo Reservoir.

Saturday was interrupted for a short while when some lighting storms and heavy rain moved through the area.

I watched on the dock as fishing teams came rushing back in, soaking wet with smiles on their faces and laughing.

They went right back out as soon as the weather cleared.

I saw what looked like professional sports fishermen wearing shirts with sponsorships on them.

They were fishing right alongside families with young kids trying to figure this out for the first time.

This weekend might be over but Wyoming summer fishing tournaments are not done.
