WyoPreps Has Photos From Day 4 of the D2 State Baseball Tourney

Three teams remain going into the final day of the 2026 Wyoming American Legion Baseball Division 2 State Tournament in Green River. After starting the tournament 3-0, the Cody Cubs secured their spot in the state championship game on Saturday night. Jackson and Lovell stayed alive after winning games on Sunday.

CUBS, GIANTS, AND MUSTANGS COULD STILL WIN THE D2 TROPHY

Lovell needed extra innings in an elimination game to knock out the host Green River Knights on Sunday afternoon. Green River took a 1-0 lead after two errors by the Mustangs. Lovell responded with four runs in the fourth inning. A couple of singles and an error loaded the bases. Jaxen Baxendale put the Mustangs in front with a two-run base hit to center field. Easton Morgan and Aiden Walker added RBI singles, which made it 4-1. It remained that way until the seventh inning. The Knights' bats came alive. An error and two walks loaded the bases. With two out, Oliver Akin smacked a 3-run double to center field. That tied the game at 4-4. Corwin Paoli followed with an RBI single, and Green River took the lead, 5-4. Lovell tied it in the bottom of the frame. Two errors led to Cash Wassmer scoring the tying run, which made it 5-5. The Knights stranded two runners on baes in the top of the eighth inning. An error, a walk, and an infield bunt single loaded the bases for the Mustangs. They won it on a wild pitch.

Jackson hands Cody its first loss of the tournament

In the nightcap on Day 4 of the D2 State Tournament, the Jackson Giants kept their hopes alive with a 10-1 victory over the Cody Cubs. Facing elimination, Jackson scored 7 runs in the second inning with two outs. Brenden Menke's RBI single gave the Giants the lead for good. Sam Peterman hit a two-run double to make it 3-0. Corbin Goodell and Milo Gray had back-to-back RBI doubles. That pushed the lead to 5-0. Two batters later, Brandon Torres smacked a two-run double down the left field line, and the score went to 7-0. Cody got one run back in the fourth on an RBI single by Kanin Phillips. Jackson came right back with three more in the fourth. Torres had a two-run single, and a bases-loaded walk was issued to Derringer Holding. That made it 10-1. Holding got the win on the mound. He allowed only one run on five hits. Holding struck out seven and walked only one. Torres led the Giants' offense with his two hits and four RBIs.

With three teams left with one loss, that guarantees two games on the last day of the tournament. Lovell will play Jackson in an elimination game at 1 p.m. The winner will advance to the championship game against Cody at 3 p.m.
