The last weekend of the girls’ high school basketball season in Wyoming is this weekend. The Class 3A and 4A girls’ basketball state tournaments will be in Casper at the Ford Wyoming Center (FWC), Casper College (CC), and Kelly Walsh High School (KWHS). Both of last year’s champions will have a chance to defend their title after qualifying for the state tournament. The defending champion in Class 3A is the Douglas Bearcats. They’ve won the last five 3A titles. There was no state champion in 2020. The Cody Fillies are the defending champion in Class 4A.

Day one action in 3A is at the Ford Wyoming Center. Day two is at Casper College. Day three is trophy day, and for 3A, the consolation and third-place games are at Kelly Walsh High School. The championship is at the Ford Wyoming Center on Saturday, March 9, 2024. It is the first of the four big school state championship games.

3A GIRLS STATE TOURNAMENT BRACKET

THURSDAY, MARCH 7:

Final Score: (2W) Mountain View 46 (3E) Torrington 31

Final Score: (1E) Douglas 59 (4W) Lyman 32

Final Score: (2E) Buffalo 59 (3W) Powell 49

Final Score: (1W) Pinedale 49 (4E) Wheatland 42 - Bowers scored 28 pts

FRIDAY, MARCH 8:

Final Score: Torrington 50 Lyman 33 – Eagles are eliminated 

Final Score: Wheatland 45 Powell 42 – Panthers are eliminated; Bulldogs win with a steal and the game-winning 3-pointer all within the last 4.9 sec of the game.

Final Score: Douglas 67 Mountain View 41 - Olsen scored a career-high 45 pts and the Bearcats will play for their 6th straight 3A title on Saturday night.

Final Score: Buffalo 45 Pinedale 44 – Bison with the game-winning lay-up off a missed FT with 5 sec left in the game; Davis with 12 pts for Buffalo as they return to the title game.

SATURDAY, MARCH 9:

Final Score: Torrington 35 Wheatland 30 – Consolation: Blazers were led by Stokes with 12 pts and 6 rebs.

Final Score: Pinedale 55 Mountain View 43 – 3rd Place Game: Bowers went off for 35 pts and Rogers contributed 14 pts for the Wranglers.

Final Score: Douglas 54 Buffalo 33 – Championship Game - Bearcats win their 6th straight title and 14th in school history. 9 of those are since 2004. Olsen scored 26 pts for Douglas. Parker and Fertig added 11 pts each.

4A GIRLS STATE TOURNAMENT BRACKET

THURSDAY, MARCH 7:

Final Score: (2E) Sheridan 59 (3W) Rock Springs 44

Final Score: (1W) Cody 53 (4E) Laramie 32 - the game was delayed before it started due to a power outage in Casper.

Final Score: (3E) Cheyenne East 50 (2W) Star Valley 28

Final Score: (1E) Campbell County 52 (4W) Kelly Walsh 39

FRIDAY, MARCH 8:

Final Score: Laramie 27 Rock Springs 26 – Tigers are eliminated; Milam had the go-ahead bucket in the last 30 seconds of the game for the Plainsmen. 

Final Score: Kelly Walsh 39 Star Valley 31 – Braves are eliminated 

Final Score: Sheridan 39 Cody 34 - Broncs got 12 pts from Burgess and 11 from Hanft. Advance to 1st title game since 2011.

Final Score: Campbell County 49 Cheyenne East 44 - Neary led the Camels in scoring with 15 pts, Kuhbacher had 12 pts and 6 rebs. Last went to the title game in 2018.

SATURDAY, MARCH 9:

Final Score: Kelly Walsh 57 Laramie 29 – Consolation: Davila led the way with 21 pts for the Trojans, making 5 3s in the game.

Final Score: Cheyenne East 42 Cody 37 – 3rd Place Game: Schlabs scored 17 pts and Brown added 12 pts for the T-Birds.

Final Score: Sheridan 65 Campbell County 56 – Championship Game - Broncs win their 7th title in school history, 1st since 2007. Sheridan was led by McMullen with 17 pts, she went 5/6 from the 3-point arc. Ligocki added 15 pts and Hanft had 10 pts and 11 rebs.
