It's one of those tiny, out-of-the-way little towns that most people have no idea existed. Linch Wyoming.

Linch is a small, unincorporated community in southeastern Johnson County, Wyoming, located along WYO 192, which is Succex Road, southeast of Buffalo and north of the town of Midwest.

There is a turn on WYO 192 where you'd better slow down, so you don't miss the town. It's easy to pass up. If you are heading north, it will be on the left, down off the road.

Currently, there are an estimated 142 in the town, but if you drive around it, you'll think it must be fewer. They do have a little post office. Since the town is so small, nobody has a mailbox at their house. They can walk to the post office.

The oil industry largely drives Linch following discoveries in 1947. It features a local library branch and is situated in a high-elevation, rural area.

There was a school in Linch at one time and a few shops that might be considered a town center, sort of. If you look through the front door window of the school, you'll see a bunch of trophies once won by their teams.

The community is named after Wilfrid Bruce Linch, a local figure.

If you drive through, nice and slow, you'll see a side of town with a few very old but well-kept homes.

Linch originated as the homestead of the Linch family in the early 20th century, with its post office established as one of Wyoming's women-operated pioneer post offices under Leola R. Crawford, and it remains operational today as a key community hub.

Linch is getting old, so who knows how much longer it will be around. The median age in Linch was 63.1 years according to ACS 2019–2023 estimates, with a gender distribution of approximately 46% male and 54% female. The school is closed, and the playground looks like it has not been used in a very long time.
