A 91-year-old Afton, Wyoming man was reunited with his wife after going missing for more than two days.

A Salt Lake City TV station unknowingly played a part in finding him.

Michael Black, 91, was found in Salt Lake City, more than 200 miles from his home.

His wife, Avril Black, 77, had no idea where he was. Then she turned on KSL TV and there he was, in the background during a news segment.

Michael Black, who had been missing for days, was seen on a KSL TV newscast in Salt Lake City on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2024. (KSL TV).

Apparently, he had hitchhiked his way to Utah.

Not bad for a 91-year-old man who was diagnosed with dementia.

“This is not the first time,” Romberg said. “But we’ve previously found him within a few hours close to home.”

According to Black, Michael said that he had wandered away from home on Monday afternoon and she couldn’t find him.

“His wife, Mrs. Avril Black did contact us Tuesday morning … At that point I did enter him into NCIC as a missing person,” Romberg said.

The search was on when he first went missing, but the trail went cold.

Along the way, the old man was receiving help from folks who were concerned about him.

He ended up at a local recuse mission where he was being fed along with other folks in need.

Local TV station KSL was featuring the shelter for Thanksgiving.

His wife thinks there is a guardian angel watching over her husband.

That's when she saw him on TV.

Once he was spotted she relayed the word to local authorities. He was taken care of by police and brought home where he is now safe and sound.
