A Cheyenne-based meteorologist says there are increasing chances for a white Christmas next week in Cheyenne and Laramie.

Cheyenne-based meteorologist Don Day Jr. says it looks like Wyoming and Colorado can expect another hard winter season for 2023-2024. Day is the founder and President of Dayweather Inc. in Cheyenne. Day says the good news is that the snowpack will help alleviate drought conditions in many areas.

Much of southeast Wyoming is facing a winter weather advisory.

While windy weather is nothing new in southeast Wyoming, we've been seeing a lot of it lately and it's been pretty intense.

Day says the threat of widespread flooding is not as bad as some people think, but neighborhood flooding caused by clogged drains could be an issue.

But Day says a more severe winter can be expected in some other parts of Wyoming.

Day, founder and proprietor of Dayweather Inc. in Cheyenne, says that means this summer will be warmer and drier than what the region experienced in 2019.

Moderate to heavy snow, and blowing and drifting snow will develop on Saturday and continue through Saturday night.

A combination of extreme winds and blowing and drifting snow caused parade officials to postpone the event by one week, to Dec. 7.
