Parents and people of faith argued on Wednesday that biblical passages called into question for being “violent or vulgar” needed to be judged in context.
"Freedom for Olinza; set him free!" rang throughout the downtown area as several supporters of Olinza Headd and his family protested the sentence that he was given after shooting and killing the man who he said molested his granddaughter.
The protest is currently being planned for May 6th at 4 p.m. It will take place outside of the Casper Police Department, located at 201 North David Street.
“Let’s not be silent,” she said. “Let’s not close our eyes and close our mouths. Let’s keep agitating for change. Maybe what we don’t need is a police department, but a department of public safety.”
