UPDATE: Big Blaze On Wyoming’s Muddy Mountain
If you were in the Casper/Natrona County area on Sunday and Monday, you probably noticed all of the heavy aircraft flying over Casper Mountain.
Those were firefighting airplanes from the Casper Natrona County Airport.
They did not have far to go to get to the blaze.
Several large tanker planes and a helicopter were involved in the fight.
Local firefighters, who we spoke to as they guarded a road between Casper Mountain and Muddy Mountain, said that there were a lot of men on the ground fighting that blaze.
Fire officials were not fooling around.
They want this thing contained, fast.
The hills and overlooks on the Casper Mountain side were filled with onlookers who were watching the planes overhead and the fire below.
On occasion, a tree would ERUPT in bright, dark red, as the fire engulfed it.
Smoke from the fire moved up the gap between the two mountains and covered Natrona Country.

Last year, planes out of that same airport fought fires across Wyoming.
Below is a screenshot from Flight Aware of the airplanes' routes between the Casper/Natrona airport and the fire.
