Wyoming Producers Applaud Trump’s Energy Orders
Among the executive orders that President Donald Trump signed on Monday night was one that declared a national energy emergency.
In his Inauguration Speech President Trump said,
"We will bring prices down, fill our strategic reserves up again right to the top, and export American energy all over the world. We will be a rich nation again and it is that liquid gold under our feet that will help to do it.”
During the four years of the Biden Administration, hundreds of billions of dollars were borrowed for federal subsidies to wind, solar, and electric cars.
At the same time, a regulatory squeeze was put on coal, gas, and oil.
Biden had promised when he first ran for office against Trump that he would put an end to all "fossil fuels."
The Biden plan caused energy to become less reliable and more expensive.
Energy producers in states like Wyoming found their coal, gas, and oil production struggling.
During his speech on Monday Trump said,
"The order states that high energy prices are an 'active threat to the American people.'
"The policies of the previous administration have driven our Nation into a national emergency, where a precariously inadequate and intermittent energy supply, and an increasingly unreliable grid, require swift and decisive action."
"In light of these findings, I hereby declare a national emergency."
The plan to ease the Federal government's regulatory burden is welcome news to energy producers in states like Wyoming.
"In recent years, burdensome and ideologically motivated regulations have impeded the development of these resources, limited the generation of reliable and affordable electricity, reduced job creation, and inflicted high energy costs upon our citizens," the order said. "It is thus in the national interest to unleash America’s affordable and reliable energy and natural resources."
Trump also signed an executive order withdrawing the United States from the Paris Climate Accords.
At the same time, a bill has been introduced in Wyoming to declassify CO2 as a pollutant.
If you were paying attention in science class, back in middle school, you heard of how essential CO2 is for life on this planet.
That's why it was a shock to many when the EPA declared CO2 a "pollutant."
Efforts have been underway since then to reach "net zero" CO2 emissions, or less, which some argue is not only not achievable but would not be good for a planet that depends on CO2 for life.
Enter Sen. Cheri Steinmetz, R-Lingle Wyoming.
She recently shared her “Make Carbon Dioxide Great Again” bill on her Facebook page.
Her bill declares that carbon dioxide is not a pollutant or contaminant and cannot be designated as such at least not in Wyoming.
If passed this would mean big changes for things like carbon capture projects in the state of Wyoming.
But if the bill is passed would it be signed by Governor Gordon?
The incoming Trump administration would certainly agree with the bill.
Below is all of what she posted regarding this bill on her Facebook page.
"The people of Wyoming have always believed in the value of questioning conventional wisdom, looking at the bigger picture and finding solutions that are possible and actually work.
That’s the purpose of the bill titled 'Make Carbon Dioxide Great Again.'
This legislation is not about denying science, it is about applying science, thoroughly reevaluating the ‘climate change’ scientific assumptions and advocating for policies grounded in practicality, reality, and achievability - common sense."
"Carbon dioxide (CO2) is vital to life on Earth. Without it, plants could not grow, and without plants, no life would survive. Scientists and farmers alike recognize that higher CO2 levels improve agricultural productivity.
Plants thrive with more CO2 - they grow faster, use water more efficiently, and are more resilient to drought. NASA’s own research shows that rising CO2 has contributed to a global “greening” effect, expanding vegetation and helping ecosystems flourish. CO2 is plant food!"
