Wyoming is chock full of strong men and women!

But you already knew that.

Wyoming has a strongman team and they are kicking butt in National Competitions

Did you know that Team Wyoming has advanced to the finals in the Strongest State competition scheduled later this year in Tallahassee, Florida?

The competition was scheduled for February 17, 2024.

Yes, Wyoming has a Strongman team and they were looking good this year and on their way to national aclaim.

Unfortunately, it was not meant to be.

Team member Porshia Birdsley, who you see in the photo above, just posted this unfortunate note on her timeline;

The Wyoming Strongman Team will NOT be going to the finals. With 2 of our men unable to go & 1 injury, it’s just not there for us to attend! Thanks for all the encouragement from everyone.

Team members include:
Captain & SHW: Cj Allen - Douglas, Wy
SHW: Mitch Godwin - Sheridan, Wy
105 KG: Casey Barby - Sheridan, Wy
90 KG: Larry Lloyd - Glenrock, Wy
Woman: Porshia Birdsley - Thermopolis, Wy
Woman: Mary Dorsett - Thermopolis, Wy

What a shame. They were looking good.

Their many supporters filled the Facebook page with compliments and well wishes.

Teams that had made the finals were from Florida, Wyoming, and New York.

They were starting the search for sponsors to help get them to the next few competitions.

Maybe next year.

Porshia Birdsley has dedicated much of her FaceBook page to the competition.

They have time to rest, heal, and start thinking about what they need to do to get ready for next year.

You can watch videos of the team in action at this link.

She also has a nice gallery of the team in action and posing for pictures at this link.

If you're a fan of Wyoming high school sports, that probably means that you've played it, or have kids involved in local sports.

You'll also know the names of Frank Gambino and David Settle, who cover these local teams on your local radio stations across the state, and on WyoPreps, both the website and the app.

Here is a collection of the most memorable sports moments from WyoPreps from the past 12 months. From 2022 into 2023.

These photos were sent to WyoPeps by parents.

They were selected simply because they capture a memorable moment.

Reading The Past - Chugwater Wyoming Newspaper

These pages of the old Chugwter Wyoming newspaper show us coverage of the region from back in the 1940s.

There was little local news, other than the war.

But what was published at the time was important to the people of the area.

It was, in most case, the only news they had from outside their little ranch or town.
