Wyoming’s Least Used Commercial Airport
For those in Wyoming who plan to travel cross country by air, do you fly out of Wyoming or do you drive to the nearest major airport?
Some will drive all the way to Denver, or Rapid City, maybe even up into Montana to catch a flight. Those on the far western side of the state might drive to Salt Lake City.
These folks are willing to take the long drive to save a few dollars.
But driving all that way means a lot of gas, meals, and Denver airport parking is not cheap. So, it's not always that much of a savings.
But if you are able to search out and wait for the best deals you can fly out of a Wyoming airport for far less time and money.
The last few times I flew commercial I left Casper, stopped in Denver, then on to Tampa. Round trip costs me just $377.00.
Nine airports in Wyoming provide commercial flights.
- Casper
- Cheyenne
- Cody
- Gillette
- Jackson
- Laramie
- Riverton
- Rock Spring
- Sheridan
The least used commercial airport in Wyoming is in Gillette.
They run just 2 flights a day and their seats are rarely full. Most people I know in Gillette prefer to drive to Rapid City to save a few bucks in favor of a 2-hour drive.

Bargain hunting for the best deals to fly out of Wyoming can be found by searching travel sights like EXPEDIA or TRAVELOCITY.
The best deals are found during off-peak times if you can plan your trip that way.
I flew to Florida and back the week after Thanksgiving. Most flights were half full at best so airlines were willing to offer some outrageously great deals.
