7 Lesser Known, Must See Wyoming Places
Often the best places to vacation are the places that most people have never heard of.
You really need to know the off-road, back-road places to experience the best a state has to offer.
In the video below you will see 7 places that you may not have heard of in Wyoming.
We say this because typically people are just familiar with Yellowstone National Park, Grand Tetons National Park, and maybe Devils Tower National Monument.
1. Grouse Mountain
Just 15 minutes from the town of Buffalo, Wyoming, on the edge of the mountains, you can camp for free. It is a great place for those seeking challenging hills, deep creek crossings, and amazing vistas.
2. James T Saban Lookout
Climb to the top of a rocky point where you can stay the night in an old fire lookout station. With modern satellites and other equipment, the forest services no longer need to keep watchers up here. So you can go stay if you don't mind the hike.
3. Meadowlark Lake
This wonderful lake is actually just down the hill from the James T. Saban lookout. Within site actually. The lake has camping, lodging, cabins, and a restaurant and bar.
4. Hot Springs Park, Thermopolis Wyoming
This is the world's largest mineral hot springs. YES, you can take a dip and soak it up. While you're there, ask how to see the free-roaming buffalo behind the hot springs.
5. Wind River Canyon:
Just down the road from the Thermopolis hot springs. Don't just drive the canyon. There is camping down there including cabins. Stay a day or so. You can find canyon white water rafting guides as well as fishing guides up the road in Thermopolis.
6. Saratoga Hobo Hot Springs
Once again, you can take a dip, and it's free. Try the very hot water near the springs, if you can. The closer you get to the river the cooler it gets.
7. Snowy Range Scenic Byway
This drive is up the road from Saratoga and will blow you away. You'll reach the highest point in that mountain range with trails and high-elevation lakes.
There is nothing wrong with the popular tourist attraction.
But never forget to explore those lesser-known places.
