Usually, when people think of camping in a great state like Wyoming, they think of tents, campers, and RVs. But what about Airplane camping?

Pilots can't carry much in their little backcountry planes, so they have to plan carefully. I've even seen some take the back seat out and sleep down the rear tube to save space and weight by not storing a tent.

Yeah, that is a thing, and it happens a lot with pilots who own backcountry airplanes. One of the best places for the general public to see it for themselves is the annual Fly-in at Glendo, Wyoming.

Every year we show you exciting photos from those fly-ins, but this time let's focus on just the airplane camping aspect.

In the back row of the airfield, along the trees, is where the planes and tents line up. Scroll down to see how pilots camp.
