Governor Mark Gordon and First Lady Jennie Gordon traveled overseas to visit troops in three Wyoming National Guard units for Thanksgiving.

They were joined by Wyoming Adjutant General Maj. General Gregory Porter and State Command Sergeant Major Harold Pafford. Over the course of a five-day trip, the governor and first lady visited soldiers in Kosova and the Middle east.

"I was thrilled to have the opportunity to personally thank our service members for their work in ensuring the safety and security of those of us back home," Gordon said in a written statement. "I understand that this can be a challenging time of year for our soldiers to be separated from our families."

The Gordons first arrived in Kosovo where they visited troops from C Company, 1st Batallion, 297th Infantry Regiment.

The next day, Gordon flew to Kuwait where he took part in a promotion ceremony.

On the final day of the trip, the governor and first lady shared a Thanksgiving meal with deployed soldiers from the 115th Field Artillery Brigade.

More than 300 Wyoming National Guard soldiers are currently deployed.
