Mitt Romney to Stump & Fundraise For Cheney
U.S. Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, will help raise money for U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney at a fundraiser in March.
According to Reuters many other gests stumping for Cheney that night will include other GOP critics of President Donald Trump such as Congresswoman Barbara Comstock, former Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff, lobbyist Charlie Black, and Liz Cheney’s father, former Vice President Dick Cheney.
The headline of this story will make many heads explode.
But before too much is assumed, let's look at a couple of the players. There are questions that must be answered.
Let's focus on Mitt Romney for a moment.
Senator Romney is NOT liked among conservative Republicans.
He is considered a RINO (Republican In Name Only). He is the most liberal member of the GOP in Congress. So liberal is his voting record, in fact, many wonder why he just doesn't join the Democrat party.
It was Mitt Romney who gave his state of Massachusetts "Romney Care" that later became Obamacare.
Liz Cheney is probably the most conservative member of the house. She hates Obamacare.
Some have called her a liberal after her vote to impeach Trump and the way she has been going after him since then. Yet her values and voting record are strongly conservative.
The only thing the two have in common is that they both voted to impeach President Trump.
Romney was one of seven Republicans in the Senate who crossed the aisle and voted to convict the former president at the end of a five-day impeachment trial.
Liz Cheney has raised far more money than anyone would need to run for reelection for the Wyoming House seat in DC. So why does she keep raising more?
One theory is that she wants to use that money to run for president.
Various other ideas abound.
Whatever she might plan to do with all that money it is certain that she has plans for it should she not win reelection in Wyoming.
