Saturday’s Casper Airport Emergency Drill Will Be Smokey & Loud

On Saturday, August 20th, 2022, Natrona County first responders will collaborate to conduct an in-depth exercise involving various safety protocols at the Casper/Natrona County International Airport.

That's a note from the airport and county first responders.

You'll see a lot of smoke and maybe see a lot of emergency vehicles.

Don't mind the bodies being carried away.

It's all just practice.

They will start by FREAKING YOU OUT first thing in the morning. The drill is expected to begin at approximately 8:00am and be complete by approximately 12:00pm.

During the drill, area residents may see smoke at the Airport as well as an increased presence of emergency vehicles with activated lights and sirens.

About those plans for sleeping late, for those who live close to the airport, good luck with that.

This will be a full-scale exercise and is a multi-agency, multi-jurisdictional, multi-organizational exercise that validates many facets of preparedness.

They are going all out with a full exercise using, as much as possible, the equipment and personnel that would be called upon in a real event.

You'll see a completely mock scenario of a Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) through an aircraft accident.

In other words, let's pretend a plane crashed and there were lots of bodies.

The drill will replicate real-time response, with training fires, lights, and sirens, among other simulations in the exercise area to test a variety of training from area agencies.

This drill includes volunteers simulating victims who are needing medical care and transportation to our local hospital.

We are trying to get the word out about this but there are many people who will still wake up wondering what the &$#@ is going on.
