Police, Family Need Help in Riverton Double Homicide Case [VIDEO]
Nearly eight months since two people were murdered in Riverton, investigators and family members are asking anyone who might have information on the case to come forward and assist in the investigation.
"Unfortunately, there is no person or persons in custody for the murders of Rudy Perez and Jocelyn Watt," Riverton Police Department Detective Sgt. Eric Smits, the lead investigator, said Tuesday during a press conference.
"We have come to the point of the investigation which requires further assistance from the community that has been so terribly affected by this time," Smits added. "We are asking for anyone that may have any information in relation to the murders of Rudy Perez and Jocelyn Watt to please contact the Riverton Police Department."
On the afternoon of January 5, police officers were dispatched to the 1100 Block of East Main Street for a report of two unresponsive subjects. Both Watt and Perez had been fatally shot.
Local, state and federal agencies have assisted in the investigation, but Smits said Tuesday that help from the public is now necessary for the investigation to move forward.
Watt's mother, Nicole Wagon, said Tuesday that her daughter "sings with angels now."
"She was an amazing person, and I'm so proud of her," Wagon said. "She was known for her caring heart, sense of humor and the love that she gave all."
