Write In For Wyoming Governor Only A Blip On Election Night
There was a lot of noise from Brent Bien fans. But little result.
After the primary votes for the Republican nominee for Governor of Wyoming went Mark Gordon there were those who went home feeling a bit dissatisfied.
Brent Bien fans had taken their campaign signs down and gone home.
But one lady, who had joined me on the Wake Up Wyoming morning show, explained that she was not done with Mr. Bien, so she spray painted "WRITE IN" on his campaign sign and put it back in her yard.
Suddenly there was a push on the internet to have folks write in Brent Bien for Governor of the state of Wyoming in the General election.
Mr. Bien had no idea this was happening.
But write-in Campaigns never really win.
Here are Tuesday's election results for Wyoming Governor.
That last one, Other/Write-in votes, is Brent Bien.
These are the results according to Ballotpedia.
Theresa Livingston barely ran a campaign. Even most Democrats in Wyoming did not know the name of their own candidate for Governor. Most only voted for her because she wasn't a Republican.
Yes, Wyoming has a Libertarian party. But at only 4.2% of the vote, the Libertarians have a lot of work to do. First, they need to let people know that there is a Libertarian party in Wyoming, and what a Libertarian really is.
Brent Bien got 5,312 votes or 3.2%.
Despite the 4 way split that still leaves Republican Mark Gordon with 76.3% of the vote.
That's not to say that everyone who voted for Gordon was happy with him. Many who voted for Gordon would have liked a viable choice but did not see one.
Mr. Bien began his campaign for governor as an unknown. He had a lot of ground to cover in a short period of time.
As a write-in option, most people had no idea that they could put his name in, despite the best efforts of his fans.
