Wyoming Could Save The Electric Car Industry – MAYBE!

Lithium is getting harder to find and getting more expensive.

Lithium is also toxic for the environment to create and to dispose of as well as human rights issues when it comes to mining it.

Wyoming may have just solved part of that problem. - Maybe.

Focusing for a moment on "green energy" batteries, lithium is critical.

But there is a reason that we call things like lithium a "rare Earth" mineral. That's because it's hard to find it in enough concentration to mine for it.

Finding it is getting harder and that means lithium continues to rise in price and it's availability shrinks.

The cost of lithium has skyrocketed more than 250% over the last 12 months, hitting its highest level ever, according to an industry index from Benchmark Mineral Intelligence.

There is no way to make wind or solar power or electric cars without it. Not yet anyway.

So if it's hard to find the stuff, and the mining practices are horrible, plus the toxic waste and the human rights abuses, what hope does the electric car have?

Well, there is something that was found in way out West.

A Massive Deposit of Lithium Deposit In Wyoming Could Meet All U.S. Demand.

Currently, the U.S. imports more than 80% of the lithium it uses.

Back in 2018, The University of Wyoming said that they have found lithium - LOTS OF IT - in the Rock Springs Uplift in southeast Wyoming.

More lithium has been found in Nevada and in the Black Hills of South Dakota.

This will help America to no longer be dependent on China and Africa for it's deposits.

The survey suggests that 228,000 tons of lithium is there and that could meet annual U.S. demand. But for how long.

How many years does that mean when the demand for lithium keeps rising. We use it for so many of our electronic devices.

But would "environmentalists" also want mining for lithium shut down in American if they realized all the problems that came with it?

The process would be cleaner here in America than in Africa or China. We would not have Child Slave Labor here in America. But we will still be left with massive amounts of toxic waste.
