You’ll Need To Register Soon To Vote In Wyoming’s Primary
Some new voting rules take effect this year in Wyoming.
This is a good time to make sure you are registered.
Just because you were registered in the last election does not mean you will be registered in this election.
To avoid the past problems of crossover voting you'll have to register as a Republican or Democrat in the month of May.
Crossover voting in Wyoming involved voters from other parties, like Democrat, Libertarian, or Constitution party, crossing over to vote in the Republican primary and then crossing back to their own party for the general election.
You will have to pick the party you want to be a member of by May 15th. You will not be able to switch back for the general election.
Candidates will register their official candidacy after the 15th.
Then there is the Wyoming voter purge process.
This process clears the voter rolls of people who have died or moved to another state. So if you didn't vote in the 2022 general election, your name would be on the purge Look for a postcard from our office stating that you did not vote in the 2022 election. But even if you don't get a postcard it's a good idea to check to ensure you are registered.
There is less time for absentee voting.
In the past absentee voting started 45 days prior to every election. But now you only have 28 days. So get on the list to get that absentee ballot.
