Two Wyoming Towns Compete For Title Of DRUNKEST
There is a website I like to follow called TERRIBLE MAPS.
They can also be found on social media sites like Facebook.
One of my favorite maps of theirs showed every railroad and interstate in Antarctica. It was just a white map with nothing drawn on it.
This time they've posted a map showing the drunkest city in every state.
Let's see if they got Wyoming right.
WHAT DO YOU THINK LARAMIE?
I can see why they would think it was Laramie. It's a college town.
A story published a few years ago on Casper's Cowboy Country also showed that the "honor" would go to Laramie.
But not every "study" agrees.
Another study, which you can find at this link, says Wyoming's drunkest city is Casper.
Wyoming
> Drunkest metro area: Casper
> Adults who drink excessively: 19.0% (Statewide: 19.3% – 19th highest)
> Countywide driving deaths involving alcohol: 34.1% (Statewide: 31.8% – 15th highest)
> Casper population: 79,601 - including Mills and Evansvill.
To decide which city takes the gold, we have to have a look at how these studies are down.
To compile a list of the drunkest places in every state, 24/7 Tempo reviewed the percentage of men and women over 18 who reported heavy or binge drinking in each state’s metropolitan areas and then singled out the city or metropolitan area with the highest rate.
They also looked at alcohol-related driving deaths that also came from the CHR.
Maybe another way to look at it would be to ask you if you wanted to go out and get wasted, what Wyoming town comes to mind? Where would you go?
We don't have an exact science here.
